Dear music lovers

The semester is drawing to a close, but there is still a lot going on: the Jazz Bachelor concerts are bringing music to the Auditorium at Ostermundigenstrasse 103 all week long and many classical music diploma concerts are still taking place. We also have some personnel news to announce.

Head of Composition and other personnel additions

Composer Irene Galindo Quero will head the Master Music Composition course from August and succeed Xavier Dayer. A warm welcome!   
With the experienced organizer Hannes Liechti, our student agency KULT will also have a new director. The Slovenian flautist Anja Clift (core subject flute, classical music) and Maria Sintamarian (second instrument piano, classical music) will also join the HKB Music team from the fall semester 2024.

Neue Zeitschrift für Musik with HKB inputs 

The most important magazine for contemporary music in the German-speaking world dedicates its June issue to the topic of Sonic Architectures and is based on the symposium organised by our Sound Arts department last year: From Sound Space to Spatial Sound.

HKB newspaper now also online

For eleven years now, the HKB newspaper has focussed on one topic several times a year and reports on our students, alumni and lecturers. There are always interesting articles from the world of music, such as a discussion about the importance of competitions in the classical music market in the current issue. 

Summer concert by HKB lecturers on 21 June

Following the great success of the last edition, classical music lecturers Corina Belcea, Monika Urbaniak, Patrick Jüdt, Chiara Samatanga, David Eggert and David Sinclair will present works by Johannes Brahms and Georg Friedrich Haas to round off the academic year and welcome the summer.

Pulsations in Biel: Panorama

Turbulent and dazzling, contemplative and experimental: Master's students from the Music - Movement - Rhythmics programme bring their choreographic ideas to the stage and implement them with students from the Bachelor's programme. The evening provides insights into the wide range of skills of the budding rhythmists.
